An audit trail that cannot be switched off, and evidence you can hand over.
Who, when, old value, new value and reason for every change, sealed every 15 minutes into a hash chain with a daily integrity check. An audit cockpit, exceptions with owners and due dates, an evidence vault, checksummed evidence packs and register-to-ledger reconciliation.

What you get
Tamper-evident audit trail
Every change records who, when, old value, new value and reason. The log is sealed every 15 minutes: each row gets a SHA-256 digest and each seal chains to the previous one. A daily check verifies the chain and raises a critical exception on any break. The trail cannot be switched off.
Out-of-band changes, listed
Changes made to the database outside the application are detected and listed separately from the application's own audit rows.
Audit cockpit
Verified, missing, mismatches, duplicates, missing documents and register-to-GL variance on one screen. Click a tile for the assets, open any of them for the evidence.
Audit exceptions
Severity, owners, due dates and the four-eyes rule. Exceptions come from verification, data-quality rules, reconciliation or are raised by hand, and every one keeps its resolution.
Evidence vault
Documents, photos, verification results, movements and approvals for each asset. Versioned documents can be linked to many records, and a file-integrity re-check is available on demand.
Evidence packs and the audit report
Evidence packs carry a SHA-256 checksum and cannot be deleted. The audit report pack, in PDF or Word, includes the signed verification statement for CARO 3(i)(b).
Reconciliation
Register vs ledger vs depreciation per account, as at a date, with drill-down to the asset; explain a difference or turn it into an exception.
Data quality and access
A score and grade for completeness, validity, uniqueness, timeliness and consistency, from nightly rules (duplicate serials, missing vendor, location, custodian or invoice). Read-only auditor roles, access reviews, login history and user-access reports.
Evidence and controls, not a certificate
FixedAsset Pro gives your auditors evidence and controls. It does not certify compliance with any standard; references to CARO 2020, Schedule II or s.32 describe what the outputs support.
How it works
How the trail becomes evidence.
Record
Every transaction and master change writes its audit row with a reason.
Seal
Every 15 minutes the new rows are digested and chained to the last seal.
Verify
A daily job re-computes the chain; a break raises a critical exception.
Review
The cockpit and the exception list, with owners and due dates.
Collect
The vault holds the documents, photos and results; packs are checksummed.
Report
The audit report pack, the reconciliation and the trail export for the auditor.

Frequently asked questions
Can an administrator switch the audit log off?
No. Auditing is not a setting. Every change is written with who, when, old value, new value and reason, and the sealing job runs on its own schedule.
How do we know the log was not altered?
Rows are digested with SHA-256 and sealed into a chain every 15 minutes. A daily job re-computes the chain; any break is shown in the integrity check and raises a critical audit exception. Changes made outside the application are listed separately.
Can our auditors have their own access?
Yes. Read-only roles see assets, evidence and reports and can export them; amounts are hidden from users without finance rights. Access reviews and login history are themselves reports.
Is FixedAsset Pro certified for compliance?
No certification is claimed. The product provides the trail, the evidence and the reconciliation that an audit needs; the opinion on compliance is your auditor's.

The audit trail rule and your fixed asset register
Since 1 April 2023, companies keeping books in accounting software must use software with an audit trail that cannot be disabled, and auditors report on it under Rule 11(g). What that means for the system that holds your fixed assets.
Schedule III disclosures for property, plant and equipment: what the notes must show
The fixed asset note is more than a roll-forward. Since the 2021 amendments, Schedule III also asks about title deeds, registered valuers, CWIP ageing and benami proceedings. A walk through what goes in, and where the data comes from.
What your auditor will ask for on fixed assets, and how to have it ready
A prepared-by-client list for property, plant and equipment, organised by the questions the auditor is trying to answer: does it exist, is it complete, do you own it, and is it valued and presented correctly.
